Mounds State Park has 10 unique "earthworks" built by a group of prehistoric Indians known as the Adena-Hopewell people. The largest earthwork, the "Great Mound" is believed to have been constructed around 160 B.C. There is a nature center that includes a bird viewing room and more. O'Bannon Woods State Park is nestled inside Harrison Crawford State Forest. The forest contains about 26,000 acres. Visitors can discover 1920s farm lifestyles and take a stroll through a restored prairie and native habitats at Prophetstown.
